In the 80's the medical establishment realized that the US had an issue with calcium deficiency and started taking steps to correct this imbalance in patients, as it was leading to things like Osteoporosis. Unfortunately calcium's easily overlooked sister MAGNESIUM is now the most common nutrient deficiency in the body. Leaving the correction to the alternative health docs like myself.
Remember that more doesn't necessarily mean better. I had one patient who came to me for help with migraines and her neurologist had put her on high dose magnesium. But when I tested her RBC magnesium levels, they were really high! In this case magnesium deficiency wan't why she was having migraines so we had to look deeper for her root cause and lower her dose of magnesium.
Here are a few things that you may be dealing with if you have magnesium deficiency:
Insomnia
Migraines
Constipation
Brain fog
Fatigue
Muscle spasms
Muscle twitching
Blood sugar dysregulation
Sugar cravings
Poor stress management
PMS issues
Period discomfort
Hormone imbalances
high blood pressure
etc. . . the list goes on
There are also certain forms are better for certain issues than others. For example I will have patients use the following:
Magnesium Citrate or Carbonate: constipation
Magnesium Taurate: for heart and muscular health
Magnesium Glycinate: for migraines, insomnia and brain health
Just to name a few.
My most favorite find right now is topical magnesium Some people have tight or spastic muscles but when they take magnesium they get diarrhea or loose stools. Topical magnesium is the best way to go! I have been using this product on my neck and shoulders for a week and I am already noticing better sleep, less headaches from tension and more movement in my rock like muscles. She also has Topical Magnesium with CBD if you have pain syndromes.
